Platforms Redesign - October 2025
In October 2025 we launched "AsCollected", the Wharton Credibility Lab's third platform online platform.
AsCollected is the first platform, in all of science, designed for documenting "results provenance".
Authors can indicate how, when, and where data were collected, and which authors cleaned and analyzed the data.
AsCollected is designed to be as fast, easy-to-use, and smart as AsPredicted and ResearchBox are, and the three platforms are now fully integrated, accessible with a single login.
Results provenance for an entire published paper is documented in a single AsCollected project.
When should you use each platform? A suggested timeline:
- Design first study in your project
- Pre-register it with AsPredicted
- Analyze results
- If study is plausibly going to be published one day, create AsCollected Project.
- Complete results-provenance for the study in AsCollected
- If designing followup study, Go to (2)
- If ready to submit to a journal, create ResearchBox
Changes to AsPredicted and ResearchBox implemented together with AsCollected's launch
AsPredicted
- Author who do not approve.
When authors do not approve a pre-registration within 6 days, the pre-registration is no longer automatically deleted. Instead, authros who have not approved by then are dropped.
- [Anonymous information]
We introduced [squared brackets] as a way for authors to provide information in their answers to the pre-registration that is only revealed once the pre-registration is deanonymized. For example, authors can indicate the names of additional people involved in the study, or locations where the study is run in [squared brackets] and the information will appear as [anonymized] until the authors deanonymize the pre-registration.
ResearchBox
- Codebooks
We substantially relaxed requirements for codebook submission. Authors can now provide information on just 10 variables, or provide a free-text codebook.
- Accounts
User accounts were merged with AsPredicted, if you have multiple email addresses associated with your account, you can always change which is used by default to receive notifications.
- DOIs
When boxes are made public, a zipfile backup has long been saved to the Web Archive. We now also save a copy to Zenodo, a European open-research repository. The Zenodo backup also generates an DOI that authors can use to cite their reproduction package, and which will lead readers to it if needed.
- Search
The search interface is now faster and easier to navigate, you can find code scripts using specific functions or packages, or datasets containing particular variables. Instantaneously.
